As a member of IPA, Dr. Wongpakaran has actively engaged in many IPA activities since 2005. In this IPA 2012 in Cairns, Australia, Prof. Pachana and Prof. Conn have arranged a symposium for young investigators around the world to share their experiences on challenges in conducting research in psychogeriatrics. This IPA meeting is held on 7-11 September 2012. Dr. Wongpakaran was first recommended by Prof. Helen Chiu to join this symposium. Dr. Wongpakaran will talk on topic 'THAILAND: FORGING TIES BETWEEN CLINICAL SERVICES AND RESEARCH IN A DEVELOPING COUNTRY'
Example on abstract: 'Barriers in a developing country can induce creativity in gathering mental health data on older adults. I will discuss my research experiences as a young researcher in a developing country that has limited resources in terms of mentors, instruments, personnel or investigators working with elderly patients as well as few research grants in psychogeriatrics. What I have done the past 5 years..'
